Facebook and Instagram have been closely integrated since Facebook bought the photo-sharing site in 2012. Unlinking Facebook from your Instagram account keeps your social profiles separate.
For example, Facebook friends won’t pop up as follow suggestions on your photo-sharing app feed, and you won’t be able to post to both sites automatically.
Here’s how to disconnect Facebook from your Instagram account:
- Open the photo-sharing app on your iOS or Android smart device and tap your profile icon in the lower-right corner
- Tap the Menu icon (three lines on iOS and three dots on Android) in the upper-right corner.
- Tap Settings
- Tap Account.
- Tap Linked Accounts.
- Tap Facebook.
- Tap Unlink Account.
- When the confirmation message appears, tap Yes, Unlink.
- Your Facebook account is unlinked from your photo-sharing app account.
