Unfortunately, transferring media between iOS and Android is still a difficult process. When it comes to instantaneous file sharing, both Apple’s AirDrop and Google’s Nearby Share come in handy. This, however, does not apply when transferring between an Android and an iPhone. Keep reading to find out how to transfer photos from an Android device to an iPhone.
You can use Nearby Share on your Android to share media files with another Android user in close proximity. However, you won’t be able to use Nearby Share if any of your friends or family members have an iPhone. The good news is that there are a few options for transferring photos from an Android device to an iPhone.
TRY USING ANY INSTANT MESSAGING APP
Instant messaging apps like WhatsApp, Telegram, and Messenger no longer impose a 25MB file size cap. WhatsApp now supports sending files up to 2GB in size, while Telegram Premium users can send files up to 4GB in size. If the person you want to send pictures to uses one of these apps, just follow the steps below.
Here, we’ll use WhatsApp as an example due to its authority as the most widely used messaging app.
- Open WhatsApp on your Android smartphone to chat with another user whom you wish to send the pictures to.
- Select the feature that looks like an office pin. You’ll find this icon next to the text box at the bottom of the chat.
- After tapping the “pin” choose “Gallery” from the option displayed.
- Select the pictures you want to share and hit the Send button in the bottom-right corner of the Preview menu. Photos taken with today’s Android smartphones, which can have as many as 108 megapixels, can quickly exceed 16 megabytes in size. You’ll need to use a different WhatsApp hack if you want to send such pictures.
- Repeat steps 1 & 2 above, and this time choose the “Document” option instead of Gallery.
- Tap ‘Browse other docs’ at the top.
- Look for the name of the picture or video you want and share. Selecrt by long-pressing the file you want to share.
- Tap Select in the top-right corner and hit the Send button in the bottom-right corner. WhatsApp will send all pictures as files in the original quality.
USE THE “GOOGLE PHOTOS” APP
Google Photos is a useful app for transferring photo albums from an Android device to an iPhone. However, you must ensure your Google Drive account has enough storage space.
- Open the Google Photos app on your Android phone.
- Tap your profile picture in the top right corner to see how much space you have on your account. If you have enough storage space you can upload photos to the server and share them with others.
- Select multiple photos and tap the Share icon at the top.
- Tap Create link. Google Photos will upload files to Google’s servers and create a link to share.
- Send the Google Photos link via email or social media. While creating a link, you can also let others add their photos. Refer our guide on Link Sharing permissions and settings in Google Photos.
USE A FILE SHARING APP (e.g. Xender)
All of the techniques discussed so far require both your and the recipient’s phones to be connected to the internet at all times. You can send photos from your Android device to your iPhone without using the internet by downloading a file-sharing app like Xender.
- Install the Xender app on your Android and iPhone.
- Launch Xender on Android and tap the Send button at the bottom. A QR code will appear to scan.
- Open Xender on your iPhone.
- Tap Receive and select Connect Android.
- Scan the QR code from your iPhone.
- After a successful connection, select pictures on your Android phone and send them using Xender on your iPhone.
CONCLUSION
It is simple to transfer photos from Android to iPhone, regardless of whether or not you have access to the internet. The process of sending or receiving something as inconsequential as a set of pictures shouldn’t be so complicated. Of course, you can get it done by employing any of the possible techniques.
