The algorithm of TikTok is very discerning about the type of video it wants you to see at your “For You” page. However, when the algorithm goes south, Tiktok may start pushing to you a constant stream of videos that you don’t want to deal with.
I’m not just talking about rudeness. For example, a political, religious, or social statement that you think is completely contrary to your beliefs. This also has to do with certain types of videos that might upset you, such as music you don’t like, humor you don’t like or videos that don’t show your Interest.
To make this practical, I once dropped in on a series of videos by some “Fortune Tellers” who claim to have a solution for making people wealthy. Honestly, I don’t think this particular video should be found on my Feed.
So what can you do? Well, you might actually “dislike” whatever video you hate to see on TikTok. Or at least tell it you’re not interested and (hopefully) change the algorithm so it doesn’t show other videos you like it.
How To Dislike Videos on TikTok
- First, press and hold the video you don’t like.
- A pop-up menu will appear where you can save the video, add it to your favourite, report it (especially if it offends you), or say that you are simply “Not Interested”.
- For the above step, click “Not interested”.
- Next, TikTok gives you the ability to hide the video so you can no longer see such, or hide videos that contain a particular sound you’re tired of listening to.
By the way, you can long press on a Live video you also do not like. In this case, you can immediately say that you are not interested, or complain about the video by reporting it.
