Ready to sell your Android smartphone or gift it to your younger sibling or child? Maybe your phone isn’t working properly or needs to be restarted. In either case, sometimes resetting Android to its original condition (or factory settings) is the best course of action (at least in terms of software). It gives your smartphone a new start, repairs Android bugs, and can even speed up RAM usage! We’ll walk you through the entire procedure.
DISCLAMER: When you perform a factory reset on your Android, all your data will be erased and the software will be restored to its original state. Everything on your device will be wiped, including apps and data. Remember to backup all relevant files and data before you begin. Below is a guide on how to backup your Android phone data.
First, try to come up with a different alternative
Knowing that you’ll have to start over can be painful. Backing up your data isn’t easy, and downloading it all over can take a while. Not to mention that if you aren’t connected to Wi-Fi, it can drain your data plan quickly. As a result, we often recommend that you look for a simpler solution before performing a factory reset.
A restart or a soft reset (holding down the power button for 30 secs) will not erase all your data. That is, if there are no other alternatives. To learn how to perform a factory reset on Android, read on.
