Are you still taking photos of important documents? There’s a better way! While apps like CamScanner are great for scanning, WhatsApp has made it even easier with its built-in scanner.

WhatsApp’s Document Scanner is a feature that allows users to scan physical documents, receipts, or notes directly within the app. It converts scanned items into high-quality digital PDFs or images, ready to be sent as messages. This eliminates the need for third-party scanning apps, offering a simple and secure way to digitise and share documents instantly.

Here’s a guide on how to use WhatsApp’s document scanner to scan and send any document directly from your phone:

    1. Open the Chat: Select the WhatsApp chat you wish to send the document to.
    2. Select the Scanner Option: Tap the attachement or “+” (plus) icon, choose “Document,” and then select “Scan Document.”
    3. Scan Your Document: The scanner will default to “Auto” mode. Point your camera at the document, and it will automatically detect, capture, and outline the paper.
    4. Edit Your Scans: After scanning, tap the thumbnail preview to adjust the edges. You can rotate or crop the image and apply filters like black and white for clarity.

WhatsApp allows you to scan as many pages as you want. Once you’re done, tap “Save,” and WhatsApp will convert the scan into a PDF document. You can scan multiple pages and send them as a single PDF, but make sure the total file size does not exceed the typical 2 gigabyte limit for sending media files on WhatsApp.

Please note that this feature is currently available to selected iPhone users.
