The simple act of sending plain texts while chatting on the Whatsapp platform, Facebook Messenger, Snapchat, Telegram, or using the Direct Messaging features of Twitter, Instagram, or TikTok, is no longer sufficient. Users enjoy sharing GIFs, emojis, or stickers to communicate their feelings or replies in order to add some fun to the chatting experience.
Even though platforms like WhatsApp and Instagram have a GIF gallery built-in, some users want to make their own GIFs because it lets them say exactly what they want. YouTube videos can be easily turned into animated GIFs that you can share on social and messaging platforms. Make sure to read to the end to understand how to do this.
There are lots of sites, for example, Giphy, where you can choose from tens of thousands of GIFs if you wish to explore the available GIFs. On this particular website, GIFs are sorted into categories such as trending, artists, entertainment, sports, and others.
You have the option to not only upload a video from your PC but also turn it into a GIF. Creating GIFs from YouTube videos requires a different process. Try checking out a website called GIFs.com.
In order to create GIFs from a YouTube video, you need to open it on a desktop computer using a web browser such as Chrome or any other web browser. Once the video starts playing, go to the address bar, double-click to edit the URL, and then add “gif” before the “youtube.”
Therefore, if the original URL of the video is something like “https://www.youtube.com/example1,” after adding the word it should look something like “https://www.gifyoutube.com/example1.” After making changes to the URL, tap “enter” and wait for the web page to load. You will be taken to GIFs.com, which displays the YouTube video on the right and a plethora of editing tools on the left.
On the editor, you have the option to convert (into a GIF) the part of the video. You can now modify GIF’s length by dragging its two ends (the ones highlighted in blue). At this point, you are able to add caption and photos, blur the video, and crop it to the desired aspect ratio.
Once the GIF has been made, you are to tap “Create Gif” in the top right corner of the screen. A few fields, such as GIF title and tags, will be required. In addition, you can choose to make your GIF public or private. Type in the information asked for and click “Next.” This might take a little more effort than using the new YouTube Green Screen feature, but it is worth it.
You can copy a link to the GIF and download it in four distinct formats—Small GIF, Original GIF, Facebook GIF, and Original MP4, as it appears on the screen. You can try out all four formats, but for most situations, downloading the Facebook GIF should be enough. Select the format, then hit the download button.
That’s it! You may now share GIFs made from YouTube videos across social and messaging services. GIFs can be created from your favourite superhero movie or your favourite comedy program, or they can even be from their favourite animation series.
