In these uncertain times, it is very important to ensure your relatives are safe and can be reached as quick as possible in emergency situations.
The latest Samsung Galaxy smartphones come with a personal safety feature to assist with this and it is possible that many people do not know about this even though they have the devices.
How to active emergency SOS
- On your Samsung smartphone, pull down the notification bar and open settings.
- Scroll down and select advanced features
- At the bottom of the menu, you will find SOS messages, click on it.
- Toggle it on and choose your emergency contacts from your contact list. These persons will receive messages when you trigger the SOS. Apart from sending messages, you can also opt to send a 5-second audio recording and attach pictures taken using the front and rear cameras
- Trigger your SOS by pressing the side key 3 or 4 times. When you do this, your emergency contacts will receive your location, audio clip and photos, prompting them to check on your safety.
Note: Pressing the Side key will:
- automatically turn on Wi-Fi and location
- continually share your location with your emergency contacts for 24 hours (they will get a new notification every 30 minutes if your location changes);
- Send a message to let your emergency contacts know you need help and your approximate location.
