The privacy of a phone is very important to any mobile smart phone user and there is a lot of ignorance about Internet access and security of personal information. Bitdefender is a mobile app and was one of the security applications showcased by LanTech Data Services Ltd at the Pwani Expo Tech 2015 held in Mombasa over the weekend with the theme ‘Pacing Technology with Ultimate Security’.
According to Salim Ahmed, Business Executive at LanTech Data, many mobile phone users are not aware of the security risk they pose when downloading free software from the Internet.
Bitdefender Mobile security also has anti-theft component helps with location and a lock – message – wipe tool box. This helps make the process of tracking a stolen phone. Salim gave a step by step demonstration to an eager audience on how to track trace phone from another phone. Its a simple sms procedure that reports and tracks a stolen pbone. The stolen or lost phone will make a screaming sound to alert it location, this however depends on the speed of the owner of the phone in executing the procedure after realising they have misplaced their phone or tablet.
The app works on Android – powered phones and tablets. Additional features include a malware scanner, privacy advisor and web security enable mobile to access the internet with fewer security concerns.
