Inventor of Flyboard and founder of popular Zapata Racing which is based in France, ‘Franky Zapata’ is back at it again and this time it’s huge. Of course, you would have seen Flyboard’s interesting water-powered device, “that is if you’re not living under a rock”. The water-powered board brought Zapata into the spotlight as a jetski racer and received the title of RUN F1 World Champion. He’s spent many years manufacturing jetskis, invented the Flyboard in 2011.
Zapata dropped a video, this time, showing off his new toy known as the Flyboard air, a board that appears to be turbine powered. At the end of the video, he claims that the flight time was three minutes and fifty-five seconds and the board reached speeds of up to fifty-five kilometres per hour but Zapata says this Flyboard can actually fly for up to ten minutes and hit speeds of up to a hundred and fifty kilometres an hour.
It can also reach an altitude of ten thousand feet max but so far, it’s in a testing phase and we’ll see how it pans out. They also said they have a mission one coming soon, perhaps it could be a race. Who knows?
Zapata didn’t give out many details on this device so, at the moment, we can’t tell how this thing is powered and what it runs on but all we know is this is true innovation and a really cool device.
Below is the video Zapata put up on YouTube.
