Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, announced new details of much-awaited Apple Watch, new MacBook at its “Spring Forward” event. The event took place today at the Yerba Buena Gardens Auditorium in San Francisco.
Here are some of the highlights at the event:
The Apple Watch
- The Apple Watch has a battery life of 18 hours;
- It will land in stores on the 24th of April;
- Prices range from $349 (Sport edition) to $10,000 (18-carat gold edition)
- Each watch must be paired with an iPhone for many of its functions
- It has Apple Pay; one swipe in front of a compatible kiosk and voila and automatic payment
- And yes, it tells the time and you can make calls with it

The 12″ Retina MacBook
- It weighs two pounds and comes in 3 colours: Space grey, silver and gold
- 12 inch retina display
- 250GB of internal storage and 8GB of memory
- 1st fan-less laptop made by Apple
- It launches on the 10th of April

- Unveiling of ResearchKit; an open source software framework that makes it easy for researchers and developers to create apps that could revolutionize medical studies. It also allows medical researchers to access data collected on health devices and apps linked to HealthKit.

- ApplePay now available in 700,000 locations and 40,000 vending machines (courtesy of Coca-Cola)
- Apple’s iOS -based car dashboard service, CarPlay will soon be “every major car brand”; more than 40 types of vehicles
- Apple has now sold 700 million iPhones; 49% year on year
