Every year, Apple Inc. hosts developers all over the world at its Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC). At WWDC, you get a first look at Apple’s latest platforms and technologies in sessions, explore the newest tools and tips, and connect with Apple experts in labs and digital lounges.
At this year’s event, Apple showcased the iOS 16, announcing that the OS will become available to iPhone users later this year. Not just the operating system the company also announced some changes that will be made to iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch. Due to how closely the iPhone is related to these other product lines, changes to them can also affect how an iPhone user lives every day.
Anytime a new version of Apple’s operating system, iOS, is released, iPhone users are usually given access to new features and a better user experience. That day, the company discussed lots of new features for the iOS 16. A key feature is the ability to edit or delete iMessages after been sent.
Though Apple hasn’t said exactly when the official version of the iOS 16 will roll out to compatible iPhones, the company usually makes it available to everyone in September. And so between now and the month of September, the company will work to improve user’s experience and fix any problems or bugs it finds.
Hold on! We know you’re eager to get in before September. There are a few options available for people like you who can’t wait to test out the newest features and upgrades that have been added to the iPhone.
Essentially, the operating system can be downloaded right now, though in beta form with developers in mind. If you’re not a developer, Apple will release a public beta next month. Like iOS 15’s public beta from last year, this one will be available to a lot more people and can be a good way to try out the latest version of iOS before it goes public. The public beta includes pre-release software, so it may not be as stable or reliable as iPhone users expect.
As a point of reference, not all iPhone owners will have access to download the iOS 16 download. The reason is Apple has ended support for some of the very oldest iPhones. As a matter of fact, only users of iPhone 8 or later will be able to download iOS 16 once it is released. This is also applicable to next month’s public beta of iOS 16.
