YouTube is testing a new Dark Mode that can be enabled by following some simple instructions. It’s not clear how long the mode has been available as an option but it’s possible to switch on in Chrome, Firefox. Safari at the moment doesn’t support this feature.
Enabling YouTube’s dark mode is simple enough, here are the instructions:
1. While on youtube, open the developer sidebar by pressing ctrl + shift + i, then select console.
2. Paste: document.cookie=”VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE=fPQ4jCL6EiE”
3. Close the console and reload the Youtube page.
4. Click your avatar at the top right corner.
5. Select dark mode!
Night owls such as myself will now be able to use YouTube without our eyes aching from the previous bright layout that was up until now. Although if you close the browser, you’d have to follow these steps to activate the dark mode.
