I have used two InnJoo phones up till now–the InnJoo i1s and now the InnJoo One 3G HD. But I have never attended an InnJoo launch event. This happens to be my first. I got an invite and braved the traffic all the way from Victoria Island to Ikeja.
Major Highlights at the event
The Venue
It’s a serene atmosphere. The venue was filled, but not crowded. The event was scheduled to start at 6:30 PM according to the invitation, but it ended up starting at about 8:00 PM. Good thing for me as I arrived at 8:30 PM
InnJoo Beginning
It was shocking for me to find out that InnJoo only just started their journey into the smatphone market in 2014. The company was actually incorporated in 2014. That means they are short of one year in the scene. They have been able to sell 300,000 phones in all the markets where they currently sell and see Nigeria as one of their core market. They are in Nigeria through an exclusive deal with Jumia Nigeria, an online store that has the ability to ship products nationwide. That is a huge plus for them as they do not need to spend so much time and money training and recruiting dealers that will distribute their phones.
The InnJoo Care Centre
If you crack the screen of your InnJoo One, they are not promising to replace your screen for you free, like Samsung and Lumia phones, but with just NGN800, you can fix a cracked InnJoo One screen. I can testify that the InnJoo One screen is strong. I dropped mine twice and was very scared each time I dropped it. But on the two oacassions, I picked up my phone and found out that my phone is still intact. I believe that the material used for making the phone screen is duarable. They believe so too, however, they are offering to replace the screen for you very cheaply if you happen to crack yours.
The Price
In an article I wrote, where I reviewed the phone, I mentioned that it’ll be great for the phone to sell below NGN40,000. To my surprise, the MD of InnJoo announced the price of the phone to be just NGN27,999 (NGN28,000)!!! That is a sweet deal. The InnJoo One 3G HD will cost only N27,999. Considering you can order for the phone anywhere you are in Nigeria and Jumia will deliver to you, this offering should make “iFans,” as InnJoo lovers are called, very proud. No waiting for someone to buy and send to you. You do not have to wait for someone to send you and invitation before you can buy one.
Availability of the InnJoo One
The InnJoo One preorder started today, 12th February 2014 on Jumia Nigeria’s Website. The first batch of the InnJoo One will start shipping to those that pre-order from February 23rd 2014. That’s another win. Not like when some phone manufacturers announce the availability of a phone and it takes them forever to make it available globally and then in Nigeria.
The Customisation of the Android OS as InnOS
They really did a good job. They will keep surporting the device and making local apps available through the InnStore. You’ll also be able to update the Operating system of the phone.
I met the MD
This made my day as well. What this means is that I will be able to shoot him questions and be able to write in the future what InnJoo has in stock for you as a consumer.
