Bharti Airtel has announced the appointment of Heiko Schlittke as the new Managing Director of Airtel Gabon. Prior to this appointment, he was the CEO of Airtel Malawi.
Heiko is a seasoned business executive with over 20 years commercial experience in FMCGs, Media and Telecommunications. He is an MBA (Finance & Accounting) from the University of Liverpool, and a Certificate in Advanced Management from London Business School. He also studied Politics and Economics at the Johann-Wolfgang-Goethe University in Frankfurt. Mr. Schlittke takes over from Herve Olivier Njapoum.
Making the announcement, Airtel Africa’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Christian de Faria, said “As Managing Director for Gabon, Heiko will be responsible for aggressively growing our market share, enhancing our competitiveness through a superior network and building a solid distribution model.”
Heiko joined Celtel B.V. in 2004 as Finance Director for Burkina Faso. This was followed by successful stints as Chief Finance Officer for Celtel Africa (now Airtel Africa) in DRC, Tanzania, Ghana and Sierra Leone. He was the Managing Director for Airtel Madagascar from 2010 until April 2014 before moving to Malawi. As Managing Director at Airtel Malawi, he has strengthened the OpCo Leadership team, successfully managed the insourcing of our network to deliver superior availability and quality, revamped our go-to-market strategy and astutely streamlined the cost-structure.
