The nominations for the 2018 Golden Globe Awards are out and unsurprisingly HBO and Netflix are both top with a sum of 21 nominations in between them.

NBC and Showtime both received five apiece, a gain for both nets (compared to 3 in 2017 for NBC and 1 for Showtime).
Some nominees from last year also featured as four of the five drama series nominated last year returned for nominations this year, with newcomer, Hulus The Handmaids Tale joining last years winner, Netflixs The Crown as well as HBOs Game of Thrones, Netflixs Stranger Things and NBCs This Is Us.
Amazons The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Showtimes SMILF, USA Networks The Sinner, and NBCs revival of Will & Grace all racked up key nominations that bolster their status as awards contenders.
HBOs 12 nominations was boosted by Big Little Lies with six nominations no surprise given the star power in the limited series toplined by Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman.
Netflix’s The Crown took two nominations — one for Best Drama Series and another for Best Performance by an Actress, which went to Claire Foy. Stranger Things also received two nominations — another Best Drama Series nod and one for David Harbour, nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role. Master of None received two as well with the first going to the show itself for Best Comedy Series and the other going to Aziz Ansari for Best Performance by an Actor. Ozark, 13 Reasons Why and Glow each received one nomination each. All were for Best Performance by an Actor or Actress and they went to Jason Bateman, Katherine Langford and Alison Brie.
In the best comedy series, ABCs Black-ish returns to battle newcomers The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (Amazon), Master of None (Netflix), SMILF (Showtime) and Will & Grace (NBC).
The winners will be announced Jan. 7 live on NBC.
