Global digital services provider Hayo has announced a significant expansion of its operations across Africa, opening new offices in Gaborone (Botswana), Monrovia (Liberia), and Lilongwe (Malawi). This strategic move is part of the company’s broader commitment to investing in emerging markets and deepening its presence across the continent.
The expansion is aimed at strengthening local digital economies by delivering tailored digital solutions, telecommunications services, and in-country expertise. Hayo’s diverse client base includes hyperscalers, governments, regulators, enterprises, and mobile network operators, all of whom stand to benefit from the company’s increased regional presence.
According to Hayo, the new offices will serve as regional hubs to accelerate service delivery, promote digital adoption, and provide enhanced support for global businesses looking to scale within Africa.
Sharing his thoughts on the development, Feraz Ahmed, CEO of Hayo, stated:
Local presence plays a key role in supporting businesses, enabling digital innovation, and having an impact on day-to-day life across African markets. Our offices in Botswana, Liberia, and Malawi are not just operational hubs—they’re a long-term investment in local people, partnerships, and digital progress.
The company’s expansion aligns with the rapid growth of Africa’s digital economy. From contributing just 1.1% to the continent’s GDP in 2012, the digital economy rose to 4.5% by 2020, with projections estimating it will reach 5.2% by 2025 and 8.5% by 2050.
Hayo’s move is designed to support this upward trajectory by creating employment opportunities, fostering innovation, and building stronger relationships with national stakeholders.
Reflecting on the initiative, Sergio Rodrigues, Director of Strategic Partnerships & Product at Hayo, shared his perspective:
The future of Africa’s digital economy deserves to be built by local talent to serve local needs. By expanding our on-the-ground teams across key markets, we can better support communities, understand local challenges, and work with partners to build a digital ecosystem that makes a real difference.
Hayo currently supports over 100 mobile operators across Africa and the Middle East and connects global clients through a network of more than 500 partners.
This expansion follows the recent launch of Hayo’s National Mobile Registry (NMR) platform, a regulatory tool designed to help governments in emerging markets manage mobile ecosystems. The platform enhances compliance, protects citizens, and supports sustainable public revenue generation by overseeing mobile device entry and registration.
