Whatsapp hit a big milestone yesterday. It now has 500 million active users, sharing more than 700 million photos and 100 million videos every single day.
The mobile messaging app maker made the news recently when it was acquired by Facebook for $19 billion.
In its blog, it states that it has grown fastest in countries like Brazil, India, Mexico, and Russia. When asked what the company was going to do to celebrate, CEO Jan Koum said “We’re going to get our engineers together and fix a lot of bugs.”
One of the reasons that Mark Zuckerberg said he acquired Whatspp was that he sees “WhatsApp on a path to connecting more than 1 billion people.”
Well it is halfway there now. How long will it take to reach 1 billion?
