Remember the Guardians teaser back in 2015? Well, an official trailer for the Russian superheroe movie has been released and it’s been making some waves on the internet. This movie is called Guardians, or Zaschitniki in Russian. Although the trailer has been released for a few days and it is exactly what you would expect a Russian superhero movie to be: About 100 times more insane than Hollywood and also sends the message that in Russia, superheroes can do anything. Literally, anything.
Here is the trailer:

The movie was made on the success of Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, which was 2015’s biggest hit at the Russian box office. The interesting part here is, the movie only cost US$20 million to make and that’s quite impressive with its very detailed and sleek special effects. Now this is a fraction of the US$200 to US$300 million production budgets of blockbuster Hollywood movies.
So let’s talk synopsis, just incase you didn’t quite understand the trailer. ‘Guardians follows a secret group of Soviet superheroes named “Patriot” created during the Cold War to defend the homeland from supernatural threats. The team is comprised of representatives of the different nationalities of the Soviet Union.”
Directed by Armenian filmmaker Sarik Andreasyan (American Heist), The Guardians will be released on 23 February 2017.
