Nigerian Grammy award musician, Burna Boy became the first African to sell out Madison Square Garden, New York with his performance early this morning (WAT).
Burna Boy, real name Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, just finished “One Night in Space” concert in the wee hours of the morning (WAT) and it was streamed live if you did not have the chance to go there. It was sold out.
So he has joined the league of artists like Justin Bieber to have sold out the 20,789 capacity centre.
In 2021, Burna Boy, just 30, became the first for a Nigerian as a solo artist to win a Grammy. The two-time Grammy nominee, won the award for Best Global Music Album for his 2020 album “Twice as Tall”. And would you believe it, he put the album together during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Also in 2021, he sold out the 20,000 capacity O2 arena in UK. In November 2019, Burna Boy became the first Afrobeat artist to sell out the SSE Arena (formerly known as the Wembley arena)

At the concert he disclosed that he would be dropping his next album on his birthday, the 2nd of July this year. Titled, “Love Damini”, it will feature Ed Sheeran and WizKid.
