Juliet Ehimuan, Google West Africa Director announced that she is leaving the company after 12 years. According to her LinkedIn post, “after an incredible 12-year journey, I have made the decision to embark on a new adventure and embrace a broader role within our region’s tech ecosystem.”
“I joined Google over a decade ago, with just myself and a colleague occupying a small office in a serviced building in Nigeria. The office has grown to become a bee-hive of activity with a multi-functional team supporting users and clients across the continent. I’m filled with gratitude and excitement to have been part of the growth story of Google in Nigeria and across Africa!”
She expressed her pleasure that she was privileged to be part of Google journey to help shape Africa’s digital landscape, transforming lives across the African continent, making technology more accessible, and opening up limitless possibilities
Some of her legacies in Google include providing free digital skills training to over 6 million people and in-depth training to over 100k developers; launching the Google for Startups Accelerator Program; localising key products like Google Maps, Street View, and YouTube.ng; and investing in access projects like Equiano undersea fibre cable, and so much more.
Though she did not expressly talk about her next endeavour, she said that she looks forward to bringing together her “passion for tech and leadership in supporting business leaders as they work to drive innovation and digital transformation in their operations, developing the next generation of African tech leaders, contributing to unlocking value in the dynamic African tech space, and continuing my work on leadership and personal excellence through “30 Days of Excellence” coaching and related programs.”
Google has not made any statement about the person to fill the position she is leaving.
