Google Wants Only You To Know What You’ve Done Online Through Password-protect

Online or Digital privacy has become a growing concern with browsing history and personal data all potentially at risk whenever you’re on the Internet.

Google says that when you use any of its sites, apps, and services, some of your activity is saved in your Google Account. You can find and delete this activity in My Activity, and you can stop saving most activity at any time.

At last week’s Google I/O Event, there were many discussions in the area of privacy with the announcement of Android’s new Private Compute Core, a locked photos folder, and users being able to quickly delete their past 15 minutes browsing history while using Chrome.

Google now has steps you can follow to put a password on your Web and Activity page, which shows all your activity from across Google services, including your searches, YouTube watch history, and Google assistant queries. Without the verification, anyone who picks up a device you’re logged into could see that activity.

Step 1: To activate the verification, you can go to activity.google.com,

Step 2: Click the “Manage My Activity” verification link.

Step 3: From there, you can select the “Require Extra Verification” option,

Step 4: Save, and enter your password to confirm that you’re the one trying to make the change.

To prove that this is authentic, try to visit activity.google.com. That is, if you’re yet to turn on verification. You will see a stream of your Google activities from across your devices, without asking for a password.

This verification process is also useful if you share a computer in your workplace, or sometimes allow others who aren’t exactly trustworthy to use your device. This could be a very useful toggle. Anyone trying to see the information on Google Activity will be required to click the Verify button and enter the Google account password before it will show any history.

Another benefit is, you can take a look at what activity Google is saving while you’re on the Web and App Activity page. You can also check whether this activity is being auto-deleted. You can choose to change the settings if you’re happy with what’s on the page.
