Google has announced that it is shutting down the job application tracking system, Hire by Google, it launched just two years ago. The company had built “Hire” with Diane Greene, a former Alphabet board member.
According to the tech giant, it says it is focusing its resources on other products in the Google Cloud portfolio even though Hire has been successful.
“Hire makes it easy for you to identify talent, build strong candidate relationships and efficiently manage the interview process end-to-end. With the introduction of Hire, customers now have a hiring app alongside G Suite’s familiar, easy-to-use tools that can help them run an efficient recruiting process.” so said the company when it was launched in 2017.
Hire came into existence when Google acquired Bebop — a company started byVMWare founder Diane Greene — for a reported $380 million in 2015. However Greene left Alphabet’s board earlier this year.
In a support email to its customers, Google says that they “can continue to use Hire up until the end of your contract or September 1, 2020, whichever comes first.”
It also said it will support Hire till September 1, 2020. “Google will provide customers under contract with support in accordance with the TSS guidelines and maintain the Hire product. This includes honoring our SLA. If your contract expires before September 1, 2020, you will have the option to extend your contract until September 1, 2020 for no additional fees.”
