Google had revealed that Android N, the latest version of Android, is indeed Android Nougat.
In May 2016, Google announced that it was in search of a name for the next Android mobile operating system.
The announcement was made yesterday on the Android Twitter page.

A nougat is a sweet. It is a family of confections made with sugar or honey, roasted nuts, whipped egg whites, and sometimes chopped candied fruit. The consistency of nougat is chewy, and it is used in a variety of candy bars and chocolates
The naming convention started with version 1.5, code named Cupcake. Then we had Donut. Eclair. Froyo. Gingerbread. Honeycomb. Ice Cream Sandwich. Jelly Bean. KitKat. Lollipop. The current one is Marshmallow (version 6.0-6.0.1)
Nougat is due out later this summer.
