While Google confirmed the arrival of its highly anticipated Pixel Watch at its recent I/O 2022 conference, the tech giant did not reveal the smartwatch’s specifications. As a result, various reports have surfaced speculating on the internals of Google’s future smartwatch. A new detail about the Pixel Watch has leaked, confirming that the Google watch will support USB-C charging. Take a look at the details below.
Details on the Pixel Watch Charger
According to 9to5Google, the Pixel Watch will arrive with a USB-C-based magnetic charging adapter in the package, based on official Google FCC filings. The FCC filings surfaced on May 11, the same day Google conducted its I/O 2022 event, and disclosed that the Pixel Watch will be available in both Wi-Fi-only and Wi-Fi + LTE variants, according to the article.
Compal Electronics will manufacture the smartwatch’s charging unit, according to another FCC ID (G943M) for the Pixel Watch. It is one of the Apple Watch’s makers, for those who are unaware. The charging adapter, according to the rumor, would be a conventional magnetic puck. However, a USB-C cable is reported to be included.
Users should appreciate the tweak, and Google might utilize it as a significant marketing feature for the Pixel Watch when it launches. Other smartwatches, such as Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 4 and Fitbit’s Sense and Versa 3, have a USB-A charging unit. Users with a Pixel 5 or higher should be able to charge the Pixel Watch both through Battery Share and directly via the smartphone’s USB-C port, according to the report.
Other speculations suggest that the Pixel Watch will have two processing units, 32GB of inbuilt storage, and 2GB of RAM. Sleep tracking, continuous heart rate tracking, fitness tracking, and active-zone minutes calculation are all planned to be included.
Although Google has yet to announce a specific launch date for the Pixel Watch, it is expected to arrive this autumn alongside Google’s next-generation flagship Pixel 7 series.
