While Google didn’t reveal much about what to expect from it at the I/O 2022 event, one thing was left out: the highly anticipated Pixel foldable tablet. This appears to have happened for a reason, as the tech giant is now anticipated to postpone the introduction of its first foldable smartphone, which had been planned for this year.
Pixel Foldable May Not Be Released This Year!
According to a recent report from The Elec, Google may not release the Pixel foldable gadget until 2023. Ross Young’s knowledge backs up this claim and points to a launch in Spring 2023. Google’s foldable device has been postponed for the second time. It was originally scheduled to debut in 2021, but was pushed back to late 2022.
If this is the case, the Pixel 7 series and the Pixel Watch may have to suffice. There’s a potential that the Pixel foldable phone will be released alongside the Pixel tablet, which has also been teased and is expected to come next year.
While no official news has been released, it is believed that the foldable Pixel is yet to be completed and does not fulfill Google’s requirements. As a result, a delay is the best option for the organization. Samsung is also rumored to be busy producing displays for the next Galaxy Z Fold and Flip 4 handsets, which could be another reason for the delay, as Samsung is supposed to provide Google with the foldable display.
Previous reports have suggested that the first Pixel foldable device will be called the Pixel Notepad moniker. The impending smartphone, allegedly dubbed the Google Pixel Fold – its probable codenames, the expected cancellation, and more. The most recent information focuses on its potential official name and design. This Pixel folding phone, like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, the Oppo Find N, and other foldable smartphones, is supposed to fold like a book.
According to evidence revealed in the new Android 12L Beta 2 (via 9to5Google), Google’s foldable phone will most likely be called the Pixel Notepad. It was previously expected to be called Logbook, but it appears that it will instead be known as Notepad, rather than the obvious Pixel Fold moniker.
This is different from Google’s standard naming approach for phones, which uses numerals for flagships and the “a” suffix for more cheap Pixels. Given that the Pixel 6 Pro was renamed this year, a new name for its first-ever foldable phone seemed feasible.
It’s also expected to be reasonably priced, and it could incorporate a Google Tensor processor. It could also have a fast refresh rate and a variety of fascinating camera features, among other things. However, this is still only a rumor, and Google hasn’t said much about it. As a result, it’s better to take them with a grain of salt and wait for more information from Google.
