Google announced it’s new feature-filled keyboard for the iPhone. The app is called Gboard and is an all-in-one Google experience built into the iOS keyboard. The keyboard has a quick-access Google search box that lets you find and send data such as locations, link to sites, search result, images, GIFs, without leaving the app you’re currently on.
The app is quite similar to third-party keyboards like Giphy Keys and Riffsy’s GIF Keyboard work, except rather than searching for just GIFs, you can run normal Google searches.
My favourite part about the keyboard is its design because it doesn’t look different from the iOS 9 stock keyboard, well, except for a colorful G button at the top left. Tapping on it opens up a Google search bar within the keyboard, and results will show up below the search bar. Once you run a search, you can choose whether you want to see web results, images, or GIFs. Google also included swipe-typing support which they call Glide — allowing you to type without lifting a finger.
If you’re worried about Google collecting words you type or perhaps being able to gain access to personal data, have no fear, the search giant was quick to point out that it will only collect “anonymous statistics” to “diagnose problems when the app crashes and…know which features are used most often like your searches. So if you are really into Google’s services and an iPhone owner, this is the app for you.
Gboard for iOS is available to download on the App Store.
