You have heard of music streaming, video streaming. Now there is game streaming, courtesy of Google. Google has just launched a new game streaming service called Stadia.
Stadia is a new video game platform, delivering instant access to your favorite games on any type of screen—whether it’s a TV, laptop, desktop, tablet or mobile phone.
This game streaming service leverages Google’s vast cloud infrastructure to deliver blockbuster games over the web without needing specialized hardware.
According to Phil Harrison, Vice President and GM, Google Stadia, “When players use Stadia, they’ll be able to access their games at all times, and on virtually any screen. And developers will have access to nearly unlimited resources to create the games they’ve always dreamed of. It’s a powerful hardware stack combining server class GPU, CPU, memory and storage, and with the power of Google’s data center infrastructure, Stadia can evolve as quickly as the imagination of game creators. ”
“Stadia will continue to add features and updates in the coming weeks and months, as well as more games. Twenty-six titles are coming this year, with many, many more in development all around the world. Buddy Passes will begin shipping early in December, and Stadia Premiere Edition is available to order now at stadia.com. “
Mid-year, June to be precise, Google opened pre-orders for the Stadia Founder’s Edition in fourteen countries consisting of the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Sweden, Denmark. Norway, Finland, Belgium, Ireland, Netherlands. This launch day bundle includes an exclusive Night Blue Stadia Controller, Chromecast Ultra, three months of Stadia Pro, Buddy Pass, and chance to claim an early username with badge. Costing $129, it sold out in October, but Google did not provide sales figures.
