Google has introduced the Family Library on Google Play to allow up to six users share purchases. All purchases executed on Google Play and added to the Family Library are made available across several android devices with movies, television shows, and books also available on iOS devices. This new feature allows users to choose what items they want to be shared between the family with an option of preventing the childeren from accessing certain content.
To enable the Family payment method, a credit card needs to be selected by a new user signing up. However, there is an option to click on the payment approval to prevent the children from making unwanted purchases. For now. the Family Library will be made available in 12 countries which includes Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Other countries are to follow afterwards. There were plans to introduce the Family Library early this year when Google sent an email to app developers.
Another feature also enabled late last year in December was the Google Play Music Family which also supports six accounts. Some countries like Ireland, Mexico, Italy and New Zealand are just receiving the Music Family feature as of yesterday. International users can sign up through the web in addition to Android devices.
