Google expands its “Play Games for PC” to more countries outside the US

Google Play Games, the platform that brings Android games to PCs, is now available to all users under an open beta in South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand and Australia.

First launched in December 2021, Google Play Games for PC allows you to enjoy all of your favourite Android games on desktop. When it first rolled out, only a few beta testers with a decently high-powered gaming PC had access.

Google is now removing some of those constraints, making Android games more accessible from your PC. To begin, there is no longer a waitlist for Play Games for PC beta access, which means that anyone in the five supported regions can join up and play right away.

When the limited program arrived earlier this year, it saw users in Hong Kong, South Korea, and Taiwan test the platform. Now, players from Thailand and Australia can join in on the fun, as it expands to an open beta for all supported markets.

The former beta also noted that players would need a system with at least an eight-core CPU, a 20GB available storage space, and a graphics processing unit that falls under the category of ‘gaming’ units.

However, changes have been made in accordance with the screenshots provided by Google in their release. These were reduced in the next version to a four-core CPU, an integrated GPU, and 10GB of free storage. This new version increased the compatibility of more users.

In terms of design, the application before contained the navigation rail on the top bar, but it has been moved to the left side as this was common for material design both for desktops and tablets, as confirmed by TechCrunch.

This will allow users to play on a much bigger screen with better performance and more control options. The new update includes the ability for players to continue their game progress from their mobile device to personal computer.

With Google Play Games, you can play mobile games on your Windows computer. When you play games on your PC, you get a larger screen with better graphics and you can use a keyboard and mouse. Whether you play your game on a computer or mobile device, progress stays synchronized. You still earn Play Points.
