As at the beginning of this month, a new feature called Journey was introduced by Google Chrome. The new feature lets users browse and keep track of their search history, allowing users to take up their search history where they left it off even after a few days.
To fully utilize this function, simply insert the topic of your choice into your search field and then click the “Resume your study” option. Alternatively, navigate to History and select “Show Complete History”. Then, using the search field, type in any topic, and a list of related topics will emerge. This therefore simplifies the process of filtering through the results and locating the data you seek.
Additionally, the frequency with which you engage with a website is critical, as it affects the results provided. However, using the Journey is optional, which means that you will be limited to the standard Google Chrome History.
Most importantly, you have complete control over your Journeys experience. For example, you can disable Journey any time, and you can always remove your browsing history directly from Chrome settings or by typing “clear browsing data” into the address bar. You can also clear history that is specific to a journey rather than your entire history, according to Yana Yushkina, Google Chrome’s Product Manager.
It is also worth mentioning that the feature is device-specific and cannot be used across various devices. According to Google’s statement, the tool will be available in English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, and Turkish.
While this is an incredible achievement by Google, we will have to wait and watch how users interact with Journey, the influence it has on job performance, and when, or if, a similar feature appears on Microsoft’s Edge.
