Google UK changed its homepage to welcome the daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, William and Kate Middleton. Known for its creative doodles, this time around Google did not go as far as a doodle, but instead placed a congratulatory message in plain text at the bottom of the home page. The message read “It’s a girl! Welcome to the world, Your Royal Highness.” with the phrase “It’s a girl” linking to a search about the royal baby.

The princess – who is fourth in line to the throne – was delivered at 09:34 WAT on Saturday after a short labour, and weighed 3.7kg. The Duke was present for her delivery.

The Duke and Duchess later on checked out of the hospital after they stepped out to briefly wave at well wishers. They did not speak to the media so it is not yet known the name of the princess. The princess was wrapped in a shawl and wore a bonnet as she left St Mary’s hospital
