Gokada CEO, Fahim Saleh, is dead. He was found brutally murdered in his home in the US. New York Police made the discovery in his Manhattan home Tuesday afternoon at about 3.30p.m (US time). Also found by his torso were contractor bags and an electric saw.

The news was confirmed in a tweet by Gokada as seen below

We are deeply saddened to inform you about the sudden and tragic loss of our founder and CEO, Fahim Saleh. Fahim was a great leader, inspiration and positive light for all of us.

According to NYPD spokesman, Sgt. Carlos Nieves, all the body parts were found at the scene, “We have a torso, a head that’s been removed, arms, legs. Everything is still on the scene. We don’t have a motive.” Detectives are waiting for fingerprint and forensic tests on the body.

The Police visited Saleh’s home when his sister called 911 because she had not seen her brother in a day.

Co-founded in 2018 by Fahim Saleh in Lagos Nigeria, transport solution Gokada allows customers to order a motorcycle ride via its website or app. The Bangladeshi entrepreneur previously co-founded and exited Pathao, a motorcycle, bicycle and car transportation company in Bangladesh.

In 2019, Gokada secured US$5.3 million in funding with a plan to expand its driver fleet, increase its daily ride numbers and grow its team. However the plan was truncated in 2020 when the Lagos state government issued a ban of commercial bikes and tricycles. A month after, it launched a logistics business.

Pathao’s CEO and co-founder Hussain Elius, in a press statement has expressed deep shock upon learning of Fahim’s death.

“We are shocked and saddened to hear the reports of the death of Fahim Saleh, one of the founding members of the Pathao team.”

“Fahim believed in the potential for technology to transform lives in Bangladesh and beyond. He saw the promise in us, when all we had was a common purpose and a shared vision.  He was, and will forever remain, an incredible inspiration for Pathao and our entire ecosystem,” he added.
