Six Nigerian artists – Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Burna Boy, Yemi Alade, Tekno and Mr Eazi are featuring with Beyonce on her album – The Lion King: The Gift which is being released on the same day as this year’s live-action remake of Disney’s “The Lion King”.
This will certainly boost the popularity of Nigerian music and these artists.
The album, titled “The Lion King: The Gift” is a 27-track album with 14 original tracks and 13 interludes from the Disney feature film. Apart from the songs with the six Nigerian artists, it also features impressive headliners like Jay-Z, Pharrell Williams, Childish Gambino and Kendrick Lamar to mention but a few.
The songs featuring the Nigerian artists are listed below:
- Don’t Jealous Me – Tekno, Yemi Alade and Mr. Eazi

The album pays tribute to Disney’s 1994 animated classic The Lion King as well as the continent where it takes place. And it is apt that a global giant like Nigeria with awesome artists should have as many songs on the album.
The Nigerian music industry has been acclaimed to be one of the fastest growing in the world even with the piracy and lack of regulation.
According to a 2017 PwC report, Nigeria’s music industry is expanding at 13.4% annually and is forecast to reach $73 million in revenue by 2021.
Other African artists featured in the album include Shatta Wale, Salatiel, Major lazer, Busiswa and Moonchild Sanelly
The Lion King is in cinemas this weekend
