Arrangements have been concluded between Telecoms Giant, Globacom and the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN) to drive mobile money penetration in Nigeria. Members of the association through this new partnership will be afforded the opportunity to serve as Mobile Money Agents across the country.
The partnership was formalised through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by the two organisations in Ilorin during the annual National Conference of the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria.
Globacoms Head, Mobile Money, Mr. Esaie Diei said that following the Central Bank of Nigeria?’s policy of driving financial inclusion, and in its commitment to promote the Cashless Policy, Glo Mobile has been partnering various Mobile Money operators appointed by the Central Bank of Nigeria.
Diei stated that the partnership would create a new door of opportunities for members of the ACPN to expand their business prospects.
According to him, Mobile Money makes financial transactions easy and quick, real time and truly mobile in a fast moving economic environment like Nigeria,” adding that this relationship is another platform for the ACPN members to increase their sources of income. Members of the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria would enjoy, among other things, “additional revenue from mobile money services; increase in customer traffic to buy drugs and other products; reduction of cash exchange at pharmacists’ outlets.”
Mobile Money is a service operated under financial regulation and performed via a mobile device. Instead of paying with cash, cheque, or credit cards, a consumer can use a mobile phone to transfer money or pay for a wide range of services, either digital or hard goods.
