    Dubai is set to become the epicenter of the global artificial intelligence movement as it hosts the 43rd edition of GITEX Global, the world’s largest tech and start-up show. The event will take place from 16 to 20 October at the Dubai World Trade Centre, bringing together 6,000 exhibitors and 180,000 tech executives from 180 countries.

    For the first time, GITEX Global will span across two mega venues, with a 40 percent increase in exhibition space, showcasing the latest advancements in AI, cloud computing, Web 3.0, and sustainable digital economy. It will also host Expand North Star, a powerhouse start-up show, from 15 to 18 October at the new Dubai Harbour venue, featuring more than 1 800 start-ups exploring opportunities in Dubai’s agile and technology-enabled digital economy.

    The UAE’s commitment to fostering innovation and technology is evident through the involvement of more than 250 government entities, intensifying their futuristic digital city visions and collaborations towards digital excellence. This year’s GITEX GLOBAL will feature 21 conference tracks with over 1,500 expert speakers from 80-plus countries, delivering 900 hours of immersive content, and addressing the most pressing tech challenges of 2023.

    Omar Sultan Al Olama, UAE minister of state for artificial intelligence, digital economy, and remote work applications, emphasized the event’s significance, stating;

    GITEX Global is where the best and brightest minds come together to shape the future of technology. We are showcasing new technologies, including the transformational power of AI, to inspire everyone and shape a better future.

    Expand North Star 2023, hosted by the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, will accelerate the global venture capital investment revival, bringing together 1,000 investors from 70 countries with $1 trillion under management.

    The UAE’s prominence in the start-up ecosystem is evident, with companies securing the majority share of the $4 billion start-up funding in the Middle East and North Africa in 2022, a testament to Dubai’s position as a global technology leader.

    Global tech giants including Microsoft, Huawei, and Salesforce will showcase their AI solutions, highlighting their commitment to democratizing AI and empowering communities worldwide. Microsoft, which recently injected $10 billion into OpenAI, aims to enable governments, businesses, developers, students, and start-ups to build AI applications driving sustainable economic growth and societal improvement.

    In addition to industry leaders, UAE-based entities such as G42, Advanced Technology Research Council, and Masdar City are actively participating in the AI innovation race. These organizations are shaping the future of AI applications, reflecting the UAE’s dedication to bold digital transformation agendas and economic diversification strategies.
