In an article published recently in the Journal of Product innovation Management (Volume 29, Issue 2), a Ghanaian has been identified as one of the world’s top 10 innovation management scholars in the world. He is Professor Kwaku Atuahene-Gima.
The empirical data was garnered from data on innovation management from articles published in two leading innovation management journals and eight top management and marketing journals during past 20 years (19912010). Based on citation impact factor, past studies have established that Journal of Product innovation Management (JPIM) and IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management are the top two innovation management journals in the world.
The empirical data from the past 20 years show that the world’s top 10 innovation management scholars are: Michael Song (University of Missouri-Kansas City), Roger J. Calantone (Michigan State University), Erik Jan Hultink (Delft University of Technology), Mark E. Parry (University of Missouri-Kansas City), Kwaku Atuahene-Gima (China Europe International Business School), C. Anthony Di Benedetto (Temple University), Abbie Griffin (University of Utah), William E. Souder (Retired), Barry L. Bayus (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill), and Christoph H. Loch (INSEAD).
Professor Kwaku Atuahene-Gima is Professor of Marketing & Innovation Management at the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) in Shanghai, where he is also Chair marketing Department (2005-2009), and the Executive Director of CEIBS Programs in Africa. He also held a part-time Chair of Marketing at Aston Business School and is currently Adjunct Professor of Innovation Management at Mannheim Business School. He is an Honorary Professor of Remin University, Beijing and has taught at Queensland University of Technology, University of Wollongong and City University of Hong Kong. He has been an invited faculty participant for executive education in innovation at the Harvard Business School.
Kwaku has been recognized worldwide for his creative and path-breaking contributions to marketing and innovation knowledge.
Kwaku has consulted and/or conducted training programs and workshops for companies such as Trend Micro Inc, Tianyu, BARCO, Sanofi-Aventis, Infinitus, Shanghai Pudong Development Bank, Danaher, GE (China), DSM, Sony, Eli Lilly, Bayer Technology Services, Ernst & Young, Atlas Copco, Alcatel-Lucent, GSK (China), Intertek, UBS Financial Services; Philips (China) Limited; Shanghai General Motors, Wyeth (China) Limited, Hong Kong Society for the Handicapped, Group Sense (International) Ltd, Sunhing Millennium Ltd, Manulife International (HK) Ltd, the Hong Kong Productivity Council and many others. He was a member of the Judging Panel for the Hong Kong Awards for Industry for Innovation (1997-1999). Kwaku is a Senior Advisor on innovation in China to Equancy, a global consulting group headquartered in Paris.
