Ghanaian agritech startup CowTribe has been selected as the winner of the Seedstars Accra. By winning Seedstars Accra, CowTribe has secured an opportunity to represent Ghana at the global Seedstars Summit set to be held in Lausanne, Switzerland next year. At the conference, the startup stands a chance to win up to $1-million in funding.
Nine other startups pitched at the event. These were: automated shipping service Eazyloop Express, fintech KudiGo, food distribution platform Okumkom, Bitcoin exchange Bit Sika Ghana, financial services marketplace Bloom Impact, medical diagnostics company Redbird Health Tech, coding platform CodeIn, foodstuff distributor Jaarno, and agritech Agro Innova.
Based in Tamale, CowTribe was founded in 2015 by Awin Peter and Alima Bawah. The startup provides an on-demand mobile (USSD-based) subscription service which connects livestock farmers with veterinarians and helps deliver animal vaccines and other livestock healthcare services to farmers.
The startup was earlier this year selected as one of four regional finalists of the inaugural MEST Africa Challenge.
