Obviously the line is becoming blurred between a Tablet, a Monitor and a TV. A 20-inch Tablet!?
Well, Panasonic showed off this tablet device at its CES 2013 keynote yesterday. The Windows 8-based device is less than half-an-inch thick, with a 20-inch screen with 4K resolution for ultra-crisp images.
“It’s designed as a commercial product,” Aaron Fowles, Manager of Corporate Relations for Panasonic America, told Yahoo News. “But it will particularly appeal to architects, graphic designers and photographers.”
Fowles said the tablet’s HD digital pen (Anoto live pen) allows designers and architects to collaborate in real-time with other designers and save their work on the cloud.
Techcrunch claims it the lightness and thiness of the tablet has obvious benefits. Similar products in the past like the Wacom Cintiq line of digital tablets require an external computer to work, and are also much bulkier and much lower resolution. The potential applications really are impressive, especially if it works as smoothly as it did in the slick demo video Panasonic put together to show it off. Pricing and availability are still unknown, but since this is a device targeted at industry and professional users, don’t expect it to be cheap.
