FroggyTalk Secures €300,000 Seed Funding to Empower African Migrants Across Europe

FroggyTalk, a fast-rising communication platform built for Africans in the diaspora, has raised €300,000 in seed funding, marking a significant milestone in its young but ambitious journey. The round was led by the SI3 Fund of Shaping Impact Group, a Belgium-based impact-focused investment firm, and will help FroggyTalk scale its services for African migrants across Europe.

Founded in June 2023 and headquartered in The Hague, Netherlands, FroggyTalk began with a simple idea: make it easier and cheaper for Africans abroad to stay connected with home. The app currently offers low-cost, high-quality international calls and a Radio Hub that aggregates African FM radio stations, allowing users to listen to their favorite shows, music, and news as if they were still back home. So far, users have logged more than 3.6 million listening minutes on the Radio Hub — a sign of strong emotional attachment to the service and its content.

The new funding, however, signals a broader evolution of the company. With the backing of SI3, FroggyTalk is preparing to move beyond voice and entertainment into deeper integration services for migrants.

“This investment is wind in our sails,” said Founder and CEO, Oluseyi Akinnibosun. “With SI3’s support, we are moving from simply connecting people through voice calls to solving deeper challenges migrants face daily — from documentation and legal support to financial inclusion and mental well-being.”

That vision speaks directly to some of the toughest realities of migration. Africans living abroad often struggle with language barriers, complex bureaucracy, loneliness, and limited access to culturally sensitive support. FroggyTalk wants to become a bridge between “back home” and “here,” blending communication, information, and practical tools into one platform.

The company’s growth has been shaped by its participation in We Are Changemakers, an incubator it joined in November 2024. Through that program, FroggyTalk gained access to strategic mentorship, partners in the Dutch social innovation ecosystem, and a supportive community of impact-driven founders. Support from Dutch New Narrative Lab (DNNL) has also played a key role in amplifying FroggyTalk’s reach and sharpening its impact model.

For SI3, the investment aligns closely with its mission to back enterprises that create measurable social value.
“FroggyTalk’s mission aligns beautifully with our vision of reducing inequalities and promoting inclusion,” said Dave Dirks, Partner at SI3. “By addressing both connectivity and integration challenges, the team is tackling one of the most persistent barriers to well-being for African communities in Europe.”

On the technology front, the seed round will allow the startup to strengthen its infrastructure and weave artificial intelligence more deeply into the product.
“This investment allows us to scale our infrastructure using AI while we improve user experience,” noted Co-founder and CTO, Henry Onyezi.

Looking ahead, FroggyTalk plans to use AI not only to optimize call quality and personalization, but also to build localized integration tools — such as guidance on documentation, relevant services by country, and access to trusted support networks.

With capital in the bank, a clear impact thesis, and a fast-growing user base, FroggyTalk is positioning itself as more than just another calling app. It aims to become a digital home base for Africans abroad — a place where connection, culture, and practical support meet.
