Former Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola’s website and Twitter account have been taken over by hackers today, Saturday, 12 September 2015.

Twitter followers took notice after the account @tundefashola started tweeting in Japanese continuously. The tweets when translated all point to horoscope facts with a link at the end.

Fashola's twitterThe links all point to Governor Fashola’s website but instead of showing the original content, it further shows more content in Japanese which also talk about horoscopes and divination. The website contains heaps of articles on the subject complete with images.

Fashola's WebsiteJust recently, Governor Fashola’s website was in the news after documents revealed that he paid out N78 million of government funds to have the website created. It is likely that the former governor will receive more flak for overpaying for a website that could be taken over by hackers successfully so easily.

A statement signed by his former Special Adviser on Media, Mr Hakeem Bello, revealed that the twitter account must have been compromised on Friday, as members of the public, who follow the former Governor, started calling to draw attention to the strange tweets in the early hours of Saturday.

Mr. Bello did not give specifics on what actions were being taken to correct the situation.
