San-Fransisco and Lagos-based fintech, Flutterwave, has committed to awarding grants to female SME owners in 5 African countries, in honor of the international women’s day.
The grants are aimed at helping them grow their customer-base and increase the volume of their annual transactions by targeting SMEs.
Flutterwave’s product is a payment service for global merchants and payment service providers.
It has processed 107 million transactions totalling $5.4Billion globally.
Flutterwave announced that the grant will be open to women aged 21 and above, that are running small and medium sized enterprises in: Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Rwanda, and South Africa.
“Winners will be chosen by a panel of judges appointed by Flutterwave and verified by the company. The winner will be notified by email within two weeks of the closing date for entries,” stated Flutterwave.
Winners will be selected by a panel of judges appointed by Flutterwave. The winners will receive a $1000 grant.
Applications close on the 23rd of March 2020, and the winners will be announced within 2 weeks.
Flutterwave Kenya country director and East Africa business head Elizaphan Mouko noted that SMEs are the backbone of the economy.
