My greatest fantasy is to be able to eat straight from the TV especially when Anna Olson is baking some rare croissants with toppings I would never have guessed existed. Well, that coupled with the ability to be physically available at different locations at the same time. Oh! Wait. I will also love if there is a device that can be used to read people’s minds so that so many people will be saved from getting heartbroken after a betrayal.
I would also love the possibility of a robot that can get my kids up in the morning. Bath them and get them ready for school. Feed each one without me having to deal with the arguments over inadequate sauce or wrong choice of breakfast.
You will agree with me that I am not being unreasonable because Technology has shown up for us in areas of our lives that we never taught possible from self-check options at huge malls (This is a lifesaver for someone like me that has a deep aversion towards queues) to vacuuming robots.
However, there are times that we are presented with products that make us wonder what the inventors were thinking.
Find below a list of our five weird but useful tech products.
ThinkGeek Grassy Charging Station
Do you love the earth? Is green your favorite colour? Is your go-to charging surface area the lawn in your house? Well, that means this is for you.
To be fair to the inventors. This charging station provides your table with a lovely decoration while also serving as a charging panel for your various devices.
Geko Smart Whistle
I do not even know why I put this on the list, perhaps it is because I find the idea behind it farfetched. This whistle can literally be a lifesaver as it sends emergency emails, messages or calls to preselected contact when pressed or blows for 2secs. The email contains GPS information that can make it easy to find you.
The Smart Whistle retails for $45.
Ripple Maker
If you love your cappuccino especially because of those artsy designs that make for perfect pictures but will still be consumed, then you will be even more thrilled at the possibility of the Ripple Maker which connects with the Ripple app where you can have any of your preloaded pictures on your device get imprinted on your coffee or latte in about 10seconds. If you are in Singapore, you can get this for about $10. Never mind that you already think Starbucks coffees are overpriced at less than $5.
The ripple Maker retails for $1000 and requires a $75monthly subscription.
Smarter Fridge Cam.
Since you are such a forgetful creature and you have probably had to settle for an eggless meal because you forgot you have run out of supplies, the creators of this cam decided to rescue you.
The cam sits in the fridge and takes a snapshot of the Fridge’s content every time you open it to give you an idea of the supplies you have and do not have. The downside like this Tech radar article rightly suggested is that you are only able to see a picture of the products in front. So, what about the supplies behind the ones in front?
That should be a valid question and it doesn’t matter that it retails for $150.
LG’s Rollable TV
Oh yes, we think this is pretty weird. It challenges our traditional image of what a Tv should be. The TV can be rolled up like a paper when not in use. That’s rad.
The 65” OLED rollable TV is a more ambitious version of the 18” prototype displayed during the CES 2016.
The LG rollable TV is not yet available for sale.
