International payment company PayPal has revealed that First Bank of Nigeria will remain its only partner in the country. Speaking to Innovation Village, Ms. Malvina Goldfeld, Head of Business Development for sub-Saharan Africa at PayPal, said they are not considering additional bank partnerships in Nigeria.
“We hope to have a long and fruitful relationship with First Bank in Nigeria and are not considering additional bank partnerships in Nigeria at this stage,” she said.
She noted that Nigeria is a very important market to PayPal and First Bank was chosen as partner in Nigeria because of its continuous efforts to drive innovation in banking services and to support the push towards a cashless society in Nigeria.
“The partnership has proven to be very successful and we are looking forward to continue working together to better serve our Nigerian customers,” she said.
She added that Nigeria has welcomed PayPal and the country has become the company’s second largest market in Africa.
“We are very happy to see that PayPal has been widely welcomed by Nigerians since the launch of the service in the country last year. PayPal is active in 43 countries in sub-Saharan Africa,” Goldfeld said.
