He had tweeted a week ago that “Model 3 passed all regulatory requirements for production two weeks ahead of schedule.”

The Model 3 is Tesla’s first electric car for the masses and starts at only $35,000. According to Tesla, “Model 3 combines real world range, performance, safety and spaciousness into a premium sedan that only Tesla can build.”
It is Tesla’s most affordable car yet and it achieves 215 miles of range per charge. It can also do 0 to 60mph in 6 seconds
Watch the unveil event of the Tesla Model 3 on the 31st of March, 2016. At this time, the delivery estimate for new reservations is mid 2018 or later, depending on country of delivery.
Musk has said that the first 30 Model 3 customers will receive their cars at a party on the 28th. Production is expected to grow to 100 cars in August, more than 1,500 by September, and then 20,000 by December.
There are an estimated 400,000 reservations for the Model 3.
