Microsoft has provided testers with the latest version of Windows 11.
This release came following several months of the company testing the operating system. This is the penultimate step before it’s made available to existing devices on October 5th. You can upgrade to Windows 10’s Release Preview today and get the free Windows 11 upgrade sooner, that is, if you don’t want to wait until October 5th (release date).
Here’s how you can get a head start on upgrading the new OS:
- With the Microsoft PC Health App, verify whether or not your computer is prepared for Windows 11. (get the app).
- If your PC is compatible, you must register as a Windows Insider on Microsoft’s website to receive the Windows 11 upgrade early.
- Navigate to Settings, after that Update & Security and then Windows Insider Program on your existing Windows 10 PC.
- Tap the “Get Started” button and sign in using the Microsoft account you used to sign up to be a Windows Insider.
- Select the “Release Preview” ring when asked to choose your Insider settings.
- Then you’d need to validate and agree to the Microsoft conditions, then restart your computer.
- Return to “Settings” and after that to “Upgrade & Security”, and you should see a new banner with the optional Windows 11 update.
- To get Windows 11 beta, select the download and install option and follow the steps.
After successfully upgrading to Windows 11, go to “Settings”, next “Windows Update” and select “Stop getting preview builds” to dismiss the Windows 11 preview updates and stay on the final version.
Microsoft has also released ISO files for Windows 11, build 22000.194, the final version of the operating system. From the Microsoft Windows Insider website, you may obtain the ISO file that would allow you to clean install Windows 11.
