Ferdi Moolman has taken over the reigns at MTN Nigeria as Michael Ikpoki steps down.

According to a statement from MTN Group made available to Innovation Village this morning,

“MTN Nigeria’s CEO Michael Ikpoki and the head of Regulatory and Corporate Affairs Akinwale Goodluck have tendered their resignations with immediate effect.”

“They are replaced by Ferdi Moolman as MTN Nigeria CEO and Amina Oyagbola as its head of Regulatory and Corporate Affairs. Mr Moolman was previously COO at MTN Irancell and most recently CFO at MTN Nigeria. A Nigerian national, Ms Oyagbola also retains the position of MTN Nigeria’s Head of Human Resources. She formerly headed regulatory affairs at the Nigerian operating company.”

This certainly is one of the outcomes of the $5.2 billion fine imposed by the Telecoms regulatory body, NCC on MTN recently. Sifiso Dabengwa, the former CEO had earlier resigned over the same issue.

MTN had earlier announced that it received a letter yesterday from NCC reducing the fine from $5.2 billion to $3.4 billion and extending the deadline for payment to 31 December 2015.
