Popular actor and songwriter, Folarin Falana a.k.a Falz a.k.a FalzTheBahdGuy has dropped a new political sound track titled “This is Nigeria” which talks about the current societal ills in the country, Nigeria. This track was inspired by Childish Gambino’s “This is America.”

Childish Gambino (real name Danny Glover) dropped “This is America” on the 5th of May and #3 trending on YouTube with 189 million views. It tells of the current trends in America such as gun violence in churches, Black on Black violence, how entertainment has clouded the real issues in America and more.

In like manner, Falz talks about the current ills in the Nigerian society. He talks about the Fulani herdsmen that have transformed from peace loving people playing the “Goje” to cutlass-wielding marauders. He talks about the corruption (money vanishing in government parastatals and blamed on animals), depicts the Chibok girls situation and the fact that everyone is assumed to be a criminal in Nigeria.

Like Childish Gambino’s “This is America” where people danced the South African “Gwara Gwara” dance which is currently trending, he also shows the trending “Shaku Shaku” dance in Nigeria. In all, entertainment seems to have numbed the society’s feelings towards the deplorable state of the nation.

He also depicts the current drug (codeine) problem among youths, the recently concluded “Big Brother Naija” show.

He talks about the politicians who have looted the country and still contest elections, the electricity problem and the recent viral opinion that Nigerian youths are lazy.

Churches are also not left out in this track. He talked about how some pastors raise money from the congregation to fund personal projects and also trick congregants in the guise of deliverance.

He also raises the menacing issue of SARS operatives and depicts the trending IGP Idris ”transmission speech”.

All in all, it portrays a Nigeria filled with many issues and how Nigerians are coping and living with these issues.

Straight talk. I tell it like it is. Obvious but elusive. I do love technology and marvel comics/films. No you can't see me. I am like "The Stig" in Top Gear or like Lagbaja. Now you see me, now you don't
