Buying and Selling has been the order of day in the Tech world. That’s what the world is about anyway. The last acquisition was by Lenovo who bought the American brand Motorola from Google. The latest and fresh sale which is the second biggest was by Facebook who bought Whatsapp for a Whopping $19billion. Interestingly, Google offered to buy this same texting app company for $10billion dollars but the offer was rejected. They also went further intending to outbid Facebook for a higher price but once again, they were slapped off.
Google CEO Larry Page met with WhatsApp CEO Jan Koum last week in an effort to persuade Koum not to agree to the Facebook deal. Page had apparently learned about the deal a few days before, and decided to make a last-ditch pitch. Is Zuckerberg really that much more persuasive than Google’s Larry Page?
I once read the book: Persuasion as a marketing tool. But does this latest acquisition mean that Zuckerberg is brighter than Larry page when it comes to Persuasion? There are no details about such anyway.
Whatsapp is a texting app with over 450 million users. This crossplatform application just needs your phone no to be connected to other whatsapp users. Internet of course is required.
Speculations and Critics say that Facebook is up to something but let’s wait and see what unfolds.
