Facebook has just launched a new job feature that allows job seekers find hiring managers directly on the social networking platform.
This is a direct attack on business and employment social networking service, LinkedIn.
Thinking about the fact that Facebook has about 1.86 billion monthly active users, it is a natural occurrence to make them stay longer on the platform and provide more value. Why not bring jobs to them instead of them leaving the platform to look for jobs elsewhere.
The new job feature appears as an update on business pages in Facebook which enables businesses post job listings the same way they’d typically compose a status update. It’s easy for Page admins to create a job post, track applications and communicate directly with applicants. After posting a job, Page admins will be able to review applications and contact applicants on Messenger, all on mobile and all in one place.
Apart from linking, sharing, and/or commenting, users also get the option to apply for the position by clicking on “Apply Now” button. This gives you the opportunity to fill out an application and submit it using Facebook messenger.
The feature launches today for US and Canadian Business Pages.
