    Facebook Slightly Alters Its Logo

You might not notice, but once pointed out, it is impossible to unsee.

Facebook recently changed the font it uses for its blue and white Facebook logo. It still maintains the blue and white colours but the letter ‘a’ in the new font is significantly different while the overall lettering is thinner.

Facebook did not announce the difference but has instead been updating the new logo quietly along its different platforms. Here is the new and old logo below:

The old logo was of the font, Klavika typeface while the new logo is a “custom typeface,” according to the company.

Speaking to Mashable, Facebook’s creative director, said, “Now that we are established, we set out to modernize the logo to make it feel more friendly and approachable. While we explored many directions, ultimately we decided that we only needed an update, and not a full redesign.”

The old icon had a good ten year run, being in existence since 2005 when the social network started being popular in ivy league universities.
